In today’s fast paced world, we are constantly on the go. Unfortunately, that sometimes leaves us with no time to provide ourselves with healthy nutrition. Meal prepping takes time, can sometimes be monotonous, and isn’t always for everyone. Personal trainers differ in their methods on getting their nutrition during the day. Some do meal prep every weekend for the week ahead. Some only prep their food for a few days at a time. Others, like myself, prep their foods every night. But, there is one thing that is included in my meal prep each and every day, and that is protein bars. Today’s blog is all about whether or not you should be using them to supplement your eating on a daily basis. Next week, I will do a review of my favorite bars on the market right now.

The benefits of including a protein bar into your daily nutrition are as follows:

Forget a meal? No Worries!

The everyday working person knows what it is like to get so busy at work that you just forget to eat. This isn’t a worry if you have a protein bar, as you can quickly make up some calories with a bar.

Don’t have time for a big meal? Have a protein bar!

Just like above, our busy everyday lives sometimes don’t allow for us to slow down enough to eat a big meal. Protein bars can be the perfect supplement to a big meal if you just don’t have time!

Having cravings for sweets? A protein bar will take care of that!

If you can find the right protein bar, then your cravings can subside! Many protein bars on the market now taste so good, and many of them taste just like our favorite candy bars! If you throw a bar into your lunch box every day, you may be able to curb your cravings so that you don’t throw in the towel on all of your hard work!

Remember: a protein bar is a supplement!

Although I do love protein bars, we need to remember that these protein bars are supplements. They should be supplemental to your daily nutrition. It is a great way to get protein in if you can’t get enough meals in during the day. However, if you have time to eat a full meal, I always recommend the full meal over just a protein bar.

As always, if you have any questions about protein bars, which ones to look for, or what to look for on the nutrition label, come down to NoCo Fitness and we can help push you in the right direction!
